Opening of the exhibition ‘Mosaic of the European Capital of Culture – moments in the grid of eternity’
Kiev, 16 October 2012 – The opening of the exhibition of photographs ‘Mosaic of the European Capital of Culture – moments in the grid of eternity’ by Miha Sagadin took place today at the oldest public library in Ukraine, the National Parliamentary Library, which is celebrating its 145th anniversary this year. The exhibition was mounted on the initiative of the Library in cooperation with the Slovenian Embassy in Kiev and the organisers of Maribor 2012 – European Capital of Culture. The exhibition was opened by Nataša Prah, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the Slovenian Embassy in Kiev.
She introduced the exhibition, which encompasses a selection of events, festivals, meetings, theatre performances, concerts, and moments from the European Capital of Culture 2012 in Maribor.
Ms Prah underlined that the European Capital of Culture project has proved to be extremely positive both for Maribor and the wider region, particularly for the improved quality of cultural events and their organisation. The wide variety of artistic, cultural and other events has provided the city with fresh impetus also with regard to the positive response of the mostly foreign visitors. She also stated that Maribor boasts a rich cultural heritage and is becoming increasingly attractive as a tourist destination.
The exhibition, which has met with wide acclaim both from the media and the wider public, will be open until the end of November.
